The AP Exam will consist of two parts - a multiple choice section and an essay section. Each section will comprise 50% of the final AP score. The multiple choice portion of the exam will have 70 questions. The essay portion will consist of three essays - a document-based question, a compare and contrast question and a change over time question. Students must answer all three essay questions.
The exams will be graded, then compared to a random sample of exams from around the country to determine final scoring. Students will earn a score between 1 and 5 on the exam. Although each college and university sets its own policy for grating credit based on AP scores, many universities award some type of credit for a score of "3" or above. In addition, at SJHS, students who take an AP course and earn a C or above will be awarded an additional point when calculating GPA. |
