Welcome to Political Science 101! This class is an introduction to the politics, principles, theories and practices of the United States and California governments.
This class is designed to give students an understanding of the founding documents of the United States and the framework of the United States and California governments. We will attempt to answer many questions in relation to the promises made in these papers. We will explore the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders in our government, including the executive, legislative and judicial branches, the media, interest groups, and the citizen. Lastly, we will learn how to be active citizens who understand what it means to take civic action.
This course, in combination with any college-level U.S. History course, will meet the state requirement for American history. This course is needed by students in order to transfer from a community college to the University of California or California State University systems.
